Hello everyone, I am delighted to share that Josh’s 6th Memorial Football Tournament which took place on Saturday 8th October at Watford FC was a huge success. Our hosts and our team of volunteers worked tirelessly on the day ensuring that the day ran smoothly, and I am delighted to share a few photos and one of our short video reels with you all.
We are so proud to be working with community organisations, charities and statutory agencies who like us strive to change the story about crime through our intervention and prevention programmes and raise much-needed awareness around victim care and support.
A massive thank you to everyone that came and supported us on the day, especially our partners who shared their work with members of the community. We were thrilled to have Claire Waxman OBE, Victims Commissioner of London, Sean Lynch Chief Inspector at the Metropolitan Police, Dean Russell MP, Peter Taylor Mayor of Watford, and Aga Dychton Deputy Mayor of Watford, join, and support us on the day.
A massive thank you to everyone who donated. We raised an incredible £3,800 from the teams, our raffle and public donations which will go directly to funding our current projects. This means that we can offer our services and support to 105 individuals who will receive an art kit, ongoing access to our art tutorials, and trauma recovery projects delivered by experts by experience staff for both our school’s 1-2-1 sessions, victim support services and our monthly art workshop sessions.
A huge congratulations to Fresh Ego FC who were our winners on the day. Not only did they join us for the first time this year they donated their winner’s cheque, an incredible team all round! We would also like to congratulate Play for The Memory as this year’s runners-up and Player of The Tournament, Robert Fresh Ego’s goalkeeper.
Finally, a huge thank you to The National Lottery for funding our tournament for the past 6 years. Without this funding, we would not be able to reach and support so many people.
If you would like to be a part of our tournament next year, please register your interest now.
Love always, Tracey
